Bob Rothberg

American songwriter (1901–1938)

Bob Rothberg was an American songwriter who made significant contributions to the music industry during his career. Born in 1901, he developed an interest in music and pursued education in the field with private instructors, learning music and violin. Additionally, Rothberg received a formal education in New York public schools, graduating from DeWitt Clinton High School in 1919. He later went on to study accountancy and law at New York Law School, earning a Bachelor of Laws degree in 1928.

Rothberg's professional career as a songwriter took shape as a member of the Tin Pan Alley community, where he worked as a lyricist. His work gained recognition, and he became a part of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) in 1936. Unfortunately, his life was cut short when he passed away in 1938 at the age of 37. Bob Rothberg is interred at the United Hebrew Cemetery on Staten Island, leaving behind a legacy as a talented songwriter of his time.
