Miron Sher

Miron Sher was a renowned Soviet-American chess grandmaster who made significant contributions to the world of chess. Born in the Soviet Union, Sher's chess career gained momentum towards the end of the Soviet era, as he began to win open sections at international tournaments. His exceptional skills earned him the title of Grandmaster from FIDE in 1992. Following the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991, Sher became a Russian citizen before eventually emigrating to the United States in 1997.
In the United States, Sher settled in Brooklyn and established himself as a distinguished scholastic chess coach and clinician in New York. His coaching expertise played a pivotal role in developing several internationally strong players, including Fabiano Caruana and Robert Hess. Prior to his immigration, Sher had also coached students across Europe, such as Peter Heine Nielsen.
