Savoraim

כינו לחכמי ישראל בבבל, בין תקופת האמוראים לתקופת ה"גאונים"

The Savoraim were a group of prominent rabbis who lived during a transitional period in Jewish history, roughly spanning from 500 to 600 CE. This era marked the end of the Amoraim period and the beginning of the Geonim era. The term Savora refers to an individual belonging to this group of esteemed rabbis, who played a significant role in shaping Jewish law and history.

As a collective, the Savoraim are also known as the Rabbeinu Sevorai or Rabanan Saborai. They are believed to have contributed substantially to the organization and structure of the Talmud, a central text in Jewish scholarship. Notably, modern scholars have introduced the term Stammaim to describe the authors of unattributed statements found in the Gemara, a component of the Talmud. The Savoraim's work had a lasting impact on the development of Jewish law and tradition, leaving a legacy that continues to influence Jewish studies to this day.
