Sidi Tal was a renowned Jewish singer and actress who worked primarily in the Yiddish language. Born in 1912 in Czernowitz, Austria-Hungary, she went on to have a prolific career in Romania and the USSR. Her talents spanned multiple fields, including film and music, with a particular focus on performing comical, dramatic, and satiric scenes. Tal's impact extended beyond her own performances, as she and her husband, Pinkus Falik, played a significant role in launching the career of Ukrainian pop singer Sofia Rotaru.

Tal's professional affiliation with the Chernivtsi Philharmonic was a long-standing one, lasting until the late 1970s. During her tenure, she not only sang but also worked with young actors, teaching them movement and staging techniques. Her students included future superstars of the Soviet popular stage. As a performer, Tal toured extensively throughout the country, as well as in Hungary and Romania, showcasing a repertoire that featured works by local authors such as Eliezer Steinbarg and Motl Saktsier, with music composed by Leibu Levin and Leonid Zatulovskiy. She passed away in 1983, leaving behind a legacy as a talented singer and actress who made significant contributions to the world of Yiddish-language entertainment.
