The Old New Land
ספר מאת בנימין זאב הרצל
Theodor Herzl was a prominent figure in the field of activism, particularly in the realm of political Zionism. His work, "The Old New Land", a utopian novel published in 1902, played a significant role in shaping his vision for a Jewish return to the Land of Israel. This novel built upon the ideas presented in his earlier political pamphlet, "Der Judenstaat", which was published six years prior.
Herzl's "The Old New Land" gained considerable attention and was translated into several languages, including Yiddish by Israel Isidor Elyashev and Hebrew by Nahum Sokolow. The Hebrew translation, titled "Tel Aviv", would go on to have a lasting impact, as the name was eventually adopted for a newly founded city in Israel. Through his writings, Herzl helped establish the foundation for the Zionist movement, with "The Old New Land" becoming one of the movement's key texts.
