Isaiah Sonne

Isaiah Sonne was a prominent Jewish historian and bibliographer, born in 1887 in the region of Galicia. He pursued his education in Switzerland and Italy, ultimately establishing a significant portion of his career in Italy. There, he worked as a teacher at various Jewish colleges, contributing to the academic community through his expertise in history and bibliography.

Sonne's life took a significant turn in 1938, when the Italian Racial Laws were implemented, prompting him to migrate to the United States. He continued his academic career in the US, joining the faculty at the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. It was there that he spent the remainder of his career, until his death in 1960. Through his work and teachings, Sonne left a lasting impact on the field of Jewish history and bibliography.
