Jehuda Reinharz

Jehuda Reinharz is a renowned Israeli historian born in 1944. His academic expertise lies in the field of history, with a particular focus on modern Jewish history. Throughout his career, Reinharz has held various prestigious positions, showcasing his dedication to the field of history and higher education. Notably, he served as the Richard Koret Professor of Modern Jewish History and directed the Tauber Institute for the Study of European Jewry at Brandeis University.
Reinharz's leadership experience extends beyond academia, as he has held key administrative roles. From 1994 to 2010, he was the President of Brandeis University, playing a pivotal role in shaping the institution. Initially planning to retire in 2009, he agreed to stay on at the request of the Board of Trustees until a suitable replacement could be found. Following his tenure at Brandeis, Reinharz took on a new challenge, becoming the president and CEO of the Jack, Joseph and Morton Mandel Foundation on January 1, 2011. This position has allowed him to continue making significant contributions to the field of history and education.
